Nineteen years ago, we brought home a Jack Russell; this dog dominated our lives. I took him to work with me on more than one occasion, loving it when everyone would ask, “How’s Jake.?”
On Friday, after a rough night, we made the decision that he was fighting against. He wanted to stay with us just a little bit longer, but we knew it was not to be. I will miss this beautiful creature leaning his head on my shoulder. I will miss his love of a great hotel room, camp spot, beach walk, chasing the wild. I will miss his attitude, and most of all, I will miss his presence in our lives. Jake, the amazing Jack lived 19 + 4 months, he knew a few tricks, liked hanging around the house, did not like the company of other dogs for more than a few minutes, didn’t play with toys or chase balls, loved a few biscuits in the morning, drank only bottled water and most important knew how to come home.
