Woodblock Wednesday: Evening Moon at Nakanoshima Park
Kawase Hasui 1883-1957
Evening Moon at Nakanoshima Park
This is the second print by Hasui, born in Tokyo, he is known for his town and landscapes. After a lot of research the one thing that stands out with Hasui is his deep earthy colors along with his artistic display of reflections on water and city rainy streets. This print is amazing and was one of the easier prints to locate. The strong wood grain sky is an important piece on this print. The paper is crisp and clean with a strong bleed on the back. Side margin has punch holes with a paper rag on the top margins. It has a hand-feel of almost never being touched. More on Kawase Hasui.
