Vintage Finds: Japanese Woodblock Prints-Sold

Goodbye my lovelies

Woodblock Prints

A few years back, a portfolio of Japanese woodblock prints hidden behind a chair at a vintage shop found its way into the studio. As a designer, textiles and the printing processes are part of the craft, but I knew nothing of the artists. It was a long journey looking at hundreds of websites, google images, contacting galleries that specialize in the art. I found out they were most likely printed in the ’50s, that some of the artists were very famous, and the prints had a story. The price for the images ranged from $80.00 to a few hundred. Posting them on sight was a way to get the story out and attempt to find a home for the few that were in excellent condition, Success. I will be going over the prints again as I wish them goodbye. But for now, I am packing them up for their next adventure.
