Creative Undertones
Fashion is…change.
As a freelance designer, creating storyboards has always been one of the best and cheapest ways to get a conversation started about product development design. Yes, sampling 3-yard cuts may get you somewhere, but overall as a creative director 3-yard cuts are just beautiful pieces of fabric and lace that end up piled in a warehouse with nowhere to go.
Creating a happy medium between the two creative selves made for a better product developer regarding storyboard design.
Workbooks are the perfect storyboard put together, especially when the fabrication, a piece of trim, a tear sheet, or a best-selling item sparks a conversation. Create the Workbook, by bring all elements into play with just enough to spark interest, letting the Workbook create the storyboards for concept design.
Velvet Undertones can start a conversation about a velvet intimate collection, bodysuits, panty packages, flocking patterns, sheer layers, and two-piece sets.
With so many designers working from home, the storyboard is more critical than ever. Creating a silhouette-based storyboard with illustrative theories that move from concept to pattern to samples ready for the marketplace saves money.
Every sketch reflects a spark, an idea that moves intimates forward into something fabulous.

Look back at past storyboards.
There is a history, sometimes a designers vision can be too early, but never to late.
Creating a Lazer Cut Skintone Packaging was a 2013 concept while working with California Sunshine/Playboy Intimates. I loved that Lazer Cut Concept, but it was too soon. Happily, it found its spot, and skin tones have a broader range in the intimate marketplace.
The Archives are full of storyboard surprises.
